Castellina is set in the heart of the Chianti Classico wine producine region and is in an ideal location for excursions to both Siena (18km) and Florence (46km).   Il Gualdo is a large farm estate set 3km down a dirt track road in the middle of a wood and the estate can trace its origins back to the Medieval age.  The location is 550mt above sea level so in the hot summer months of July and August you get a very pleasant breeze that cools you down.

The two main houses have been restored but maintain their ancient beamed ceilings and original terracotta flooring.  Not only has the estate a spectacular infinity edge pool it also has its own lake that you can swim in.   The main business of this estate is the production of a unique extra vergine olive oil called Sinolea which is produced here in limited quantity ! 

The main house can accomodate 16 pax :

Gr. fl : living room, 2 double bedrooms with queen beds, 1 twin bedded room, 2 bathrooms with showers, kitchen with eat-in kitchen and open fireplace, dining room. There is a further double bedroom with en suite facilities on a lower ground floor level.

A door from the dining room leads to a staircase which leads up to the first floor where there are a further 4 bedrooms, these can either be comunicating or be used as separate units if more privacy is required and each comes with own separate living area and cooking facilites if necessary).   There are 2 double bedrooms with queen beds (one with en suite facilities) and two twin bedded rooms (one with en suite facilities), 1 bathroom with bath and hand held shower.

In the other house which is lived in by the residential caretaker and his family there is a further apartment on the first floor for 6 people.  This has two double bedrooms with queen beds and en suite facilities and 1 twin bedded room with en suite too, there is a living cum dining and open plan kitchen area.
